Sunday's very special Adventure Kids! JuJu brought all his new toys thanks to Glendalough AC and oh what fun we had with them all!
We started the session with our JuJu warm ups and the kids are getting more familiar with these. ( time to up the level ) To begin, we did some jumping on the spot to warm the blood and then some running on the spot….running faster and faster and everyone was super-fast today. It was down into squats then and the kids are getting great at doing these. From the squats we did hip pumps and all the kids were getting nicely warmed up!
We worked on balance too, with one leg out to the front, then to the side and then out to the back. And THEN the SHARK came BACK!! We swam really really fast away from the shark and I think we lost him (till next time!).
Now, there were one or two of the kids who did not listen to "JuJu’s rules" and today it was 10 press ups or 10 sit ups that the kids make up what gets done! when the rules are broken! So, throughout the day, the kids hit the deck to do their press ups or push ups and they were mighty impressive doing them to!
So, it was time to use some of the new toys. JuJu put some hoops on the forest path and the kids had to go through them, light on their feet tap , tap tap without touching any of the hoops.. it looked easier than it actually was…even though the kids kept saying how easy it was!!! Then JuJu made it a little harder for everyone, putting the hoops on top of each other so everyone had to tap tap tap their way through them…some took it a little slow, others just hit against every hoop and some did great work.
We ran up the trail and found our pile of stones again and oh, what fun the kids had. They ran up and down and made animal noises at the top of the pile. Molly won the prize for the most unusual noise – I think it was supposed to be a pig!
No rest for the kids, after this we did some speed work – sprint, slow, sprint, slow up the fire road. The kids were a wee bit tired after a few rounds of this but they were all still on for more. Then we did some relays, running through hoops on the way and then for the best fun, the egg and spoon race!! Well, it was much easier for some than others but everyone did a super job. The parents even had a go too and they weren’t too bad for “oldies”!
The session went by so quickly today…we were having so much fun we didn’t notice the time going. So, what happens after a juju session, YES, the river dip and off we ran along the trails down to the river. We had some frog jumps into the river by Maddi, some full body dips by the other kids and most of all lots of fun by everyone.
And just to finish the session off, JuJu got everyone to put cones on their heads and run back to the cars!! Some Mum’s might have cheated, just a little bit (you know how you are!!)
And when we thought all the fun was over, the tug of war rope came out for a little while as Leah’s Dad is a tug of war champion so we wanted to show him the JuJu version of the tug of war. JuJu then showed the kids his wonderful juggling skills and they all said “I can do that!!” So, they all tried and the bags went everywhere – I think that lesson will be foranother day’s learning!!
Such a brilliant day, thanks to all the kids and their Mum’s and Dad’s. See you all soon.
